World Book Day 2020

World Book Day is organized every year by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the reading, publication and promotion of copyright of books. The day is also known as International Book Day and World Book and Copyright Day. The theme of world book day, celebrated on April 23 every year, is 'Share a Million Stories'.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has launched vidyadan 2.0 platform. The program has been launched on initiation platform to strengthen e-learning content. Vidyadan 2.0 is a common national programme that invites the development and contribution of e-learning content.

The Union Cabinet has launched a package of Rs 15,000 crore to fight Kovid-19

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved a significant investment of Rs. 15,000 crore for 'Bharat Kovid-19 Emergency Response and Health System Preparedness Package'. The amount sanctioned will be utilized in 3 phases, and an amount of Rs. 7,774 crore has been provided for immediate Kovid-19 emergency response and the rest will be provided under mission mode for medium term (1-4 years).

Bro has constructed a permanent bridge over river Ravi

A permanent bridge has been constructed and opened by border roads organisation (BRO) on the Ravi River on 22nd April 2020, connecting the Kasowal enclave in Punjab to the entire country long before schedule. The bridge, which spans 484 metres in length, was constructed by 141 Drain Maintenance Coy of 49 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Chetak.

low cost feluda test kit by CSIR-IGIB

The 'Feluda' test kit for testing of coronovirus has been developed by the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The name of the test kit in the name of detective character in Satyajit Ray's stories has been named. The test kit delivers results in less than an hour and costs less.

researchers from ARI have developed bug sniffers to detect pathogens

Researchers working with the &  Agharkar Research Institute (ARI), an autonomous institute working under the Department of Science and Technology, have developed low-speed sensors to rapidly detect bacteria and pathogens. The project's lead researcher is Dr. Dhananjay Bodas and his team, and they have dubbed the device  'bug sniffer' .
